Position Title: Choreographer - 8th Grade (13/14s) Spring Musical
Location: Bank Street School for Children, New York, NY
Pay Rate: $70 / Hour

Position Summary:


Bank Street School for Children Upper School is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Choreographer to design, teach, and stage all dance movements for our 8th Grade spring musical. You will partner closely with the Director and Music Director to integrate movement seamlessly into the overall production, leading rehearsals and workshops, and adapting choreography to a diverse group of student performers.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop original choreography for the 8th-grade spring musical production.
- Collaborate with the Director and Music Director to align movement with music, staging, and dramatic elements.
- Lead a dance workshop during the callback process, introducing routines to groups of students.
- Teach and rehearse with groups of up to 30 students, accounting for varying skill levels and physical abilities.
- Modify choreography as needed to meet the needs of students and production constraints.
- Communicate efficiently and manage time effectively: keep colleagues and students informed, adhere to schedules, and adjust as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a solutions-oriented mindset when faced with rehearsal challenges or production adjustments.
- Experience in other theatre-areas (such as backstage, technical, or production) is a strong plus and beneficial to working in our environment.


Schedule & Commitment:

- Engagement begins on or around January 9, 2026 and continues through May 1, 2026.
- Weekly Rehearsal: Fridays, 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
- Additional rehearsals as needed
- Approximately 4 full-day dress / tech rehearsals (specific dates to be determined).
- Performance Dates:
• Wednesday, April 29 (two performances)
• Thursday, April 30 (two performances)
• Friday, May 1 (one performance)
